Peter Jones, looking happy, with Treasurer Jane Anderson

PAWS October – How to do Everything and Be Happy

Instead of hearing about the History of Watermills, PAWS were delighted with their last-minute replacement, a very happy Peter Jones.  Peter stepped in after Ken Guyton unfortunately, had to cancel due to illness.   What a great evening was had, members laughed, cried and laughed so much again!

Early Ambitions

As a young boy, inspired by the antics of James Bond at Gants Hill cinema, Peter had yearned to be an actor.  Discouraged from this by his mother he was encouraged to get a “sensible job”.  He started professional life as a particularly rubbish graphic designer.  This was followed by a stint as a petrol pump attendant, before getting embroiled in the murky world of credit card banking.  By the age of 32, his ambition was to find a lovely girl and get married.

Flirting Technique

This latter ambition caused great problems, exactly how do you start going about this?  Peter decided that what he really needed was an Image Consultant and after that, the next stage was flirting techniques.   It was at this particular conference that he met Kate, who was to become his wife.  Within a year Peter and Kate were married.  It was with great sadness that we learnt his wife, Kate, suddenly died just three years later.

In trying to solve his great feelings of despair, Peter came up with plans and ideas to make him happy and to point his life in a new direction.  He started to write down all these ideas which became a book that he managed to get Amazon Kindle to take, “How to do everything and be happy”.  Audiobooks then approached him but they needed at least another two books from him at the same time.  This led him to collaborate with Della Galton, who he had met by chance at a book fair in Derbyshire.  This led to his next book “How to eat loads and stay slim”, being born.

It was at this point that he decided he was ready to meet people again and flirted with online-dating.  He again did lots of research into how to present yourself, take a good photo etc and it was his experiences of all the different dating sites that gave him the idea for his next book, “How to start dating and stop waiting”.

Peter had to come to the point where he now wanted to write full time so it was time to take the plunge and leave the world of banking. The great news is that  Harper Collins now publish his books, in paperback, here and in the USA and he is currently working on his fourth novel.

If you are lonely, unhappy or overweight, he’s your man!
