Present: Clare Lauwerys (chair), Phil Gladwin, Netty Knill Jones, Jinny Gale, Wendy Ritherdon, Liz Davidson, John Walker, Kevin Bentley and one member of the public

Apologies for absence: Catherine Sprott, Andrew Ellis, Robert Davidson

Minutes of the last meeting were agreed by all and will be signed in due course.

County Councillor Report: Council tax will be increased by 1.5% for the adult social care precept only.  The virus is still diminishing in our area but everyone must remain vigilant. Schools are open now with the necessary precautions in place. Roads and signage are being mended but with restrictions from the virus making everything take that bit longer.   • Reports on both playgrounds and fields
  • Discuss any update on alternative arrangements for Moss Hay maintenance
  • Any updates re the different quotes and equipment for Peldon playground, discuss preferences, etc.
  • Decision required: What are we going to do with regard to maintenance at Moss Hay, should we advertise?
  • Decision required: Any further measures required with regard to Covid-19 and current government guidelines

2.  Ditches and flooding issues at Peldon

  • Thanks to Highways and resident co-operation the problems have hopefully been resolved

3.  Communication and Engagement

  • Discuss how the parish council can best engage and communicate with our residents of all ages

County Councillor Report: Covid cases are reducing now, vaccinations are going well but any over 70s who have not received an invitation yet should contact their GP to book their vaccination.

Borough Councillors Reports: Thanks were expressed to Kevin for organising drain jetting and sucking out both in Peldon and Salcott.

  • Reports on both playgrounds and fields

3.  Flooding at Salcott

  • There have been various flooding issues/problems at Salcott recently and particularly during this very wet weather which have been dealt with accordingly.  A major contribution of organisation has taken place from Salcott and Virley Parish Councillors mediating with ECC Highways, Anglian Water and Environment Agency and with help from local residents. Issues are still being dealt with as and when they arise.

4.  Peldon Village Sign – will be taken down for refurbishment shortly.

Annual Report 2019-2020

Annual Report of the Parish Council for year 2019-2020

Over the last year we have dealt with the usual complaints of speeding traffic, dog fouling, various noise related problems, potholes, flooding, planning issues and much more. Many of these are outside our powers and were passed on to our Borough and County Councillors to whom we owe sincere thanks.

Speeding through the village caused ongoing concern. We organised a successful public meeting chaired by Kevin Bentley (ECC Highways portfolio holder) and attended by Police and Highways officers. Several strategies to improve matters were identified and we await their fuller investigation and implementation by ECC Highways.
