Farm Watch
I am continuing to work along side FARM WATCH to respond to incidents as soon as possible and would appreciate if you that you pass me on details of any farmers or major land owners who are not involved. We have recently set up another Farm Watch with landowners from your area which will hopefully be up and running soon.
Ongoing
Speeding
I have received results from our Mobile Support Division who are doing an operation in the area at present regarding speeding, I spoke to them earlier in the year and asked for their assistance so am glad that they can help.
The rough analysis of the data is as follows:-
Of the 300 vehicles checked since 24/04/2010 in Peldon and Gt Wigborough (6) have received Fixed penalty notices with several more being given strong words of advice.
Checks were also done in Langenhoe where out of 400 vehicles (13) Fixed Penalty notices were given.
I am still awaiting the radar data
The checks on the weekend of the 24th in Peldon were hampered slightly with the member of the public that decided to put a sign up telling motorists there was a speed trap ahead. This was discovered by Andrew Ellis, though I know this slows them down it doesn’t help when recording accurate figures to use when asking for further assistance on the road. It only shows the speeds as low when we know otherwise, if anyone has any information regarding who is responsible please let myself or Andrew know.
PELDON – 27th April till 4th May
Total vehicles in both directions = 20,142 vehicles
- Over 55 MPH = 9 vehicles
- 50 – 55 MPH = 25 vehicles
- 40 – 50 MPH = 6225 Vehicles
- Under 35 MPH = 13883 vehicles
Peldon will continue to be a speed check area.
Great Wigborough – 27th April till 4th May
Total vehicles in both directions = 19,722 vehicles
- Over 55 MPH = 0
- 50- 55 MPH = 0
- 40 – 50 MPH = 97
- Under 35 MPH = 19,625
As you can see Great Wigboroughs actual speed is a lot lower than the perceived speed, and I would not class this area as a particular issue, I believe this is due to the roads natural bends.
End of Year 2009-2010
A brief review of the past years crime figures – This is showing an 8.25 per cent increase on reported offences this year.
This sounds a large increase, but with the small amount of crime on this beat, this is only an increase of 11 crimes, please also remember that things such as fly tipping are recorded as a crime which bumps up our figures, we are still extremely low with regards antisocial behaviour.
The last year we have had 144 reported offences, with the previous year being 133.
We have seen the percentage of crime drop over the past few months since I have started and I am confident of a reduction in the coming year.
Please bear in mind these will not be 100 per cent accurate compared to Essex Police yearly figures but are a good indicator or how our area works.
