Peldon Village Hall Wins Funding!

We are delighted to say that Peldon Village Hall came third in the vote for Colchester’s Big Choice and has secured a further £50,000 of funding for our new village hall, bringing the total funds we’ve raised to £360,000. 795 people voted for us and we’d like to thank each and every one of you for your support, and ask you to pass on the news to your contacts – once again, Peldon has punched above its weight! Around 4,500 votes were cast in total and the full results can be seen on the Council’s website at www.colchester.gov.uk/bigchoice.

Our latest design for the hall received conditional planning approval 2 weeks ago so we’re now in a position to crack on with selecting our preferred contractor, confirming the actual cost of the project and raising any remaining funds we might require. There are a number of ways we might seek to enlist help from the community, too. I intend to say more about all this in articles in forthcoming editions of the Parish News and Mersea Courier, as well as keeping those of you following us on Facebook in the picture.

But at last the finishing line seems to be within sight and we’re all delighted!

Thanks again, everyone.
