PAWS November – 10th Anniversary
Peldon, Abberton & Wigborough Society is 10 Years Old!
10 years ago a decision was made to break away from the WI and become an independent ladies social group based in Peldon. We continued with monthly speakers with talks on a wide range of topics to include history, gardening, fashion and much more. So, no more Jam and Jerusalem but wine and nibbles instead! We must have done something right. The club has grown from strength to strength with a current membership of 55 and a waiting list of ladies wanting to join.
Party Night in St Mary’s
The meeting this month was in St Mary’s Church, due to the imminent demise of Peldon Village Hall, and it was party night! The church was decorated with bunting and the lights gave this beautiful church a lovely atmosphere. We had a sumptuous tea with bubbly and a celebration cake. That was followed by games, quizzes and ‘guess who is who’ from photos of members when they were young. Two special guests attended, Jane and Julia, who had been part of the original set up committee. There was a ‘pot luck’ Raffle in which the prizes were wrapped like presents. No one knew if they had won a lovely box of chocolates or a pair of flashing spectacles until they opened the box! At the end of the evening all the members received a super hessian bag with the PAWS logo on it. Everyone agreed that it had been a great night and a wonderful way to start the Christmas season.
Christmas Dinner
Our next get together is for our annual Christmas Dinner which year is at the Granary Restaurant, Waldergraves, Mersea – 7.00pm Tuesday December 13th. So it just remains for us to wish all our members and regular visitors a Merry Christmas and A Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
