The Frame is there – Walls are next
Join the brick-laying ceremony on 3rd March as construction of the Peldon and Wigboroughs Community Centre gets underway
With the frame of the new Peldon and Wigboroughs Community Centre now erected, and the roof going on soon, it will shortly be time to start building the walls. So we are holding a brick-laying ceremony on the site at 2.00pm on Friday March 3rd to mark the start of the construction – everyone is welcome to join us!
Representatives of the various bodies who have supported our funding applications will be attending. They include Councillors John Jowers and Simon Walsh on behalf of Essex County Council’s Community Initiatives Fund, which has given £181,730, and Councillor Kevin Bentley who chaired the Abberton Reservoir Community Fund (£100,000). Colchester Borough Council’s Big Choice 2016 will also be represented (£50,000) as will the Essex Community Foundation who, through the Jean and Peter Davey Charitable Fund, has awarded us £6,000 towards fitting out the new kitchen. The occasion will be our opportunity to publicly acknowledge all their support.
We hope that many of you, from both Peldon and the Wigboroughs, will also come along and those that have supported our Buy-a-Brick appeal will be able to see that the bricks are being put to good use! If you haven’t yet bought a brick, you will be able to do so on the day. There will also be refreshments available in the Church.
