Being organized by the Friends of St Mary’s, Peldon, this will be a truly Scottish night with Scottish dancing and haggis & neaps for supper (alternatives available)! So get out your tartans and dancing slippers this 7th February for a really enjoyable evening! Everyone is welcome.

New Years Eve – Village Party

Invite to New Years Eve Party at Peldon Village Hall

You are invited to a New Years Eve village party at Peldon Village Hall, starting at 8pm on 31st December 2014 and going on until late.

Host and DJ, MamboMark, will be playing classic, current and traditional dance tunes for all generations.  Celebrate the New Year in a traditional style including a free glass of bubbly at midnight.

Fancy Dress theme “Twins and Triplets” (optional)

Light bites including home made canapés and nibbles will be served during the evening

Peldon Festival 2014

peldon-village-festival-2014This weekend sees the 2014 Peldon Village Festival with many old favourites but also, new this year, parachuting Teddies!  The main events are between 11am & 4pm each day unless otherwise detailed.

Saturday 14th June sees:

  • Craft stalls,
  • Meet the animals,
  • Tower open,
  • Exhibitions,
  • Lunches, cream teas,
  • Punch & Judy,
  • Street Organ, and
  • Parachting Teddies – yes bring along your Teddy, fit him up with a parachute and watch him make his jump from the Church Tower!

Sunday 15th June we have:

  • Festival service (9:30am),
  • Tower open,
  • Flowers, exhibitions,
  • Refreshments, cream teas, and
  • Song Cycle in Concert (7:30pm).

Music & Fun for Peldon Village Hall

musicKeen to bolster their rebuilding fund (just over half-way now), the Peldon Village Hall Management Committee are running two great events for all the family early in July.

An evening of Live Music – 5th July

You are invited to relax, dine and dance to the sizzling sounds of summer at Brickhouse Farm, Lower Road, Peldon.  Starring the Crissy Lee All Star Band and featuriug Liz Oki (recently seen on the BBC’s The Voice) the lovely Lesley Arden will also be there to entertain at the start of the evening.  Doors open at 5:30pm with music from 6:30pm and food served from 7pm.  Tickets to be booked in advance from Bob Holmes (01206 735510 or [email protected]) and cost £20 including a 2 course supper.

There will be a licensed bar and free parking.

Family Fun Day – 6th July

song cycle in peldon churchBy popular demand the Peldon Village Festival sees a welcome return for the male voice quartet known as The Essex  ‘Kings’ Singers’.  They will perform music from Bach to the Beatles and being Humorous and Serious by turn are most entertaining.  As well as performing in Peldon before, they have also appeared on Songs of Praise with Aled Jones and on local radio.

Evening Concert 7.30pm on Sunday 15th June.

Riotous Assembly – Folk Opera of 19th Century riots
Don’t miss 3 days of events at the Peldon May Festival. 

Kicking it off in the Plough on Friday 27th ay at 7:30 will be Folk music in the garden, provided by Elaine Barker, Bill, Gwendal Moele and Shanty Clere. The usual Friday pub food will be available or why not try your hand at Boules  before Sunday’s competition. 

Between 11am and 5pm on the Saturday there is a day of family fun with the Church Tower Open, Flower Festival, Art and Photographic Exhibition, Craft Stalls, Owl Display, Dog Training, Punch and Judy, Bouncy Castle, Gardeners Question Time, Beer Tent, Ploughmans Lunches and Cream Teas with entrance just £2 or £1 for children. 

Sunday kicks off with a Pet Service in the church at 9:30 followed between 10am and 4pm with the Church Tower Open, Flower Festival and Art and Photographic Exhibitions in the Church, Open Gardens with Treasure Hunt and Scarecrow Competition, Light Lunches, Cream Teas and the Boules Competition.

The festival is rounded off nicely with a Festival Concert in the Church by the popular Hadleigh group ‘Riotous Assembly’. A tale of the Essex riots 1790-1820, depicted in a contemporary folk song setting, followed by an end of Festival reception.
