Amanda Sutherland, our Speaker for the evening, arrived carrying several interesting bags and boxes.  She then slowly and carefully displayed a very colourful and enticing array of decorated hats, fascinators, wraps and jewellery.  Amanda told us that her creative journey began when she was a child at school;  she sold her first pieces of jewellery, made from a selection of inner soles, to her Teachers!

PAWS March – AGM & Before and After Beauty

PAWS’ President, Lorraine, opened the AGM with a warm welcome to everyone and checked that no visitors were present. She thanked everyone for their support during the past year; especially during the months we were relocated in the Church (which proved rather cold on occasions). This was followed by a brief review of the year including

  • a resumé of the Speakers we had enjoyed listening to, and
  • outings that had been arranged including Christmas Dinner at The Old Siege House.

After disembarking from the Hurtigruten cruise ship in Honningsvag, northern Norway, Peter Garner’s attention was caught by a large statue of a St. Bernard on the quayside (see right).  After reading a plaque on the wall he realised this dog called Bamse was a very special dog.  On returning to England he unearthed this story….. PAWS January – Wildlife in Gardens

Roger Hance came to PAWS to show the delights of Wildlife present in the Garden.  His slide talk showed some of the wildlife that can be found in our gardens. Because a lot of the natural hedgerows in our countryside are diminishing, it is increasingly more important that we try to help our wildlife out by turning our gardens into habitats that will encourage birds, mammals and insects to live in.
