Speeding Through our Villages

Speed limit through WigboroughsSpeeding Through our Villages

The Parish Council has organised a public meeting on Monday 22nd July addressing speeding between Peldon Rose and Salcott crossroads.

Kevin Bentley, of Essex County Council, will chair the meeting.  A senior and very experienced Highways Officer will accompany Kevin to explain what legal options may be available to moderate speeding.  We hope that a representative from Essex Police will also be able to attend to speak about monitoring and enforcement.

The meeting was originally set up because of concerns about speeding through the Wigboroughs; the Highways Officer has confirmed that she will take questions about the full stretch of the road.  She will also accept questions submitted in advance of the meeting.  Send your questions to Sue Pullen ([email protected] or 01206 735 367).

Speed recording strips have been installed to measure vehicle volumes and speeds; the results from this analysis should be available before the meeting.

Please come to the meeting if you are concerned about this problem.  The more attending, the more we convey the strength of concerns to those with power to do something about it.

The meeting will take place at the Peldon and Wigboroughs Community Hall, Church Road, Peldon; it will start at 7 p.m.  Make a note in your diary now.
