  1. Playgrounds and Playing Fields are in good order for this time of year, with a much-improved footpath at Moss Hay complements instead of complaints have been received, with parish council funding considered to be well spent for a swift result.
The Community Group is back in action and liaising with us to implement a new plan to visit here on a regular basis and carry out good works, such as hedge and small-scale grass cutting, in all our villages at petrol cost only.
Further funding for benches will be sought having obtained very generous offers of funding from Borough Councillors Locality Budgets and with the aim of obtaining one for inside Peldon play area, a wheelchair access picnic table for somewhere on the field, another for book contemplation outside the newly located telephone box at Salcott and another picnic table for Salcott field. It was also agreed to investigate cost and funding for adult equipment for Peldon.
Unfortunately, it has proved necessary to order new signage for the play area at Peldon to restrict use to children under the age of 12 years old and to exclude dogs completely.
  2. Salcott Telephone Box has been painted and will receive a touch up to finish the job. North Colchester Men’s Shed organisation has very kindly taken on the job of shelving it out at a cost of materials only as they do with all community-based jobs and request donations to the charity.
  3. Jubilee Celebrations: It has agreed to go forward with giving all the children up to and including school year 13 who reside in our villages with a commemoratory Jubilee mug which will also have the PC name on it. Please make contact with the parish council to place your order.  Peldon and Wigborough Community Hall management committee had approached the parish council to join forces for celebration discussions which may be followed up.
  4. Actions and reminder List – updated and to include mention of a complaint about a footpath in Salcott which is a matter between the farmer and ECC. A request for refresher training on use of the defibrillators. The parish council is seeking a local handyman who can carry out paid small jobs for us such as repairs to the bus shelters, etc.
