Minutes of the last meeting were agreed by all and signed by the chairman

Borough Councillor Report: Suggestions and requests are welcome from all the villages for their wants and needs for possible inclusion in the new Conservative Policy for Colchester. The Queen’s Jubilee will be celebrated in the town centre with bunting, flags etc. The pilot scheme for E-Scooters is still ongoing. The consultation for proposed changes to parliamentary boundaries is on-going and people can see the proposed changes and respond here: https://www.bcereviews.org.uk/

Borough Councillor Report: Since the elections the new set up of both CBC and ECC was explained and many of the councillors are new to their roles and so will need to learn quickly as they go along.

The main hall can provide a spacious venue with good ventilation for the present situation with doors and windows left open when required.

County Councillor Report: Covid cases are reducing now, vaccinations are going well but any over 70s who have not received an invitation yet should contact their GP to book their vaccination.

Borough Councillors Reports: Thanks were expressed to Kevin for organising drain jetting and sucking out both in Peldon and Salcott.

1.  Playgrounds and Playing Fields

  • Reports on both playgrounds and fields
  • Discuss alternative possibilities for Moss Hay maintenance
  • Having studied the different quotes and equipment for Peldon playground discuss preferences. Are we able to make any decisions as yet?
  • Decision required: What are we going to do with regard to maintenance at Moss Hay?
  • Decision required: Any further measures required with regard to Covid-19 and current government guidelines

3.  Flooding at Salcott

  • There have been various flooding issues/problems at Salcott recently and particularly during this very wet weather which have been dealt with accordingly.  A major contribution of organisation has taken place from Salcott and Virley Parish Councillors mediating with ECC Highways, Anglian Water and Environment Agency and with help from local residents. Issues are still being dealt with as and when they arise.

4.  Peldon Village Sign – will be taken down for refurbishment shortly.

County Councillor Report: The road surface along this stretch mainly from the Kings Head to Peldon is full of subsidence areas and is under investigation by Highways to establish the reason for this before repair work can take place. The most serious pot holes will be reported to the County Councillors before Friday for immediate attention.

County Councillor Report was previously circulated including plans to make Colchester Town Centre streets safer, greener and healthier. Speeding is a huge problem all over the county with the network being back to approximately 82% of the volume it was prior to Covid-19.
